Holy Procrastination: Why God Wants You to Start Now

Holy Procrastination: Why God Wants You to Start Now

Faith without action is merely wishful thinking. Pastor Cleophas Muyelele's powerful message "It's Time To Do It" challenges believers to move beyond simply hearing God's word to actively implementing it in their lives. Drawing from James 1:22, Pastor Cleophas emphasizes that we must not merely listen to the word and deceive ourselves but do what it says. He confronts the trap of holy procrastination, delaying obedience under the guise of spirituality, and reminds us that faith paired with action is what truly brings transformation and breakthrough in our spiritual journey.

Throughout Scripture, we find compelling stories of individuals whose faith-driven actions led to miraculous outcomes. Hannah, desperate for a child after years of barrenness and provocation, moved beyond her tears and prayers when she received a prophetic word from Eli. Rather than just celebrating the word, she took action, and the Lord remembered her, blessing her with Samuel. Her story teaches us that receiving a word from God should prompt us to step out in faith rather than remaining passive in our circumstances.

Similarly, the woman with the issue of blood demonstrates the power of determined action fueled by faith. After suffering for twelve years and spending all she had on ineffective treatments, she heard about Jesus and made the decisive choice to push through the crowd to touch His garment. Her thought, "If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed," coupled with her determined action, resulted in immediate healing. Jesus affirmed that her faith had made her whole - a faith expressed through deliberate movement toward her miracle.

The account of the four lepers in 2 Kings 7 further illustrates this principle. Facing certain death from starvation, these outcasts reasoned, "Why stay here until we die?" Their courageous decision to approach the enemy camp - despite the apparent danger - led to an unexpected discovery that the Arameans had fled, leaving behind abundant provisions. This not only saved their lives but fulfilled Elisha's prophecy about sudden abundance in a time of severe famine. Their story reminds us that sometimes God's provision awaits on the other side of our decisive action.

Pastor Cleophas also highlights Simon Peter's experience in Luke 5. Despite fishing all night without success, Peter responded to Jesus' instruction to "put out into deep water" with the pivotal words: "Because you say so, I will." His obedience, despite professional expertise suggesting otherwise, resulted in nets so full of fish they began to break. This teaches us that acting on God's word, even when it contradicts our experience or seems illogical, often leads to blessing beyond our expectations.

The message concludes with a three-fold challenge: be open to hear God's word, do what it says by putting it into practice, and believe in His direction. Pastor Klaus encourages believers to stop postponing their God-given plans and ideas, reminding them that every significant breakthrough in Scripture came when someone decided, "It's time to do it." Whether it's starting a ministry, launching a business, reaching out to reconcile relationships, or stepping into unfamiliar territory, the time for action is now. Faith that transforms lives and communities is faith put into action.
