Pastor Jones Britus of Haiti asks the question: Have you ever wondered if God is speaking to you? The truth is, He's communicating constantly—we just need to learn how to recognize His voice. This message explores how God communicates, helping us understand the many ways He reaches out to His people.
This enlightening exploration of divine communication reveals the many channels through which God speaks to His children. Starting with Scripture—the foundation and standard for all other forms of divine communication—we discover that God's Word remains His primary method of instruction. As Hebrews reminds us, God's Word is living and active, speaking afresh to each generation.
Beyond the written Word, God speaks through appointed ministers, through the gentle nudges of the Holy Spirit in our daily thoughts, and through dreams and visions that have guided believers since biblical times. From Joseph's prophetic dreams to Daniel's divine interpretations, God has consistently used our sleeping and waking hours to convey His messages. Sometimes, God even speaks through dramatic encounters—audible voices, angelic messengers, and face-to-face meetings as experienced by Moses, Samuel, and the apostle Paul.
The most profound revelation is that hearing God's voice marks us as belonging to Him. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." This intimate communication distinguishes authentic believers from those who merely go through religious motions. While the idols of this world remain silent, our living God speaks constantly, guiding us through life's complexities with the tender concern of a loving Father.

Pastor Jones Britus:
Today I'm very happy to talk to you about how God speaks. There are many different ways God speaks to us and we, all of them, will see that he is speaking to us constantly. And the book of Job, after he has complained that God has been silent. Job, friends, Elijah, he says God speak again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams and visions of the night. When deep sleep falls on people as they lie in bed, he whispers and terrifies them with His warning. He causes them to change their minds, he keeps them from weight Job 32, 33" 14, down to 16, to 17.
Pastor Jones Britus:
So learning to hear the words of God and knowing how he speaks is essential for all believers. And Jesus said in John 10: 27- 28, my ships hear my voice and I know them and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish. Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Those who hear God's voice are those who belong to him, those who have been saved by his grace, through faith and the love of Jesus. These are the sheep who hear and recognize God's voice. We must belong to him. Only our God can speak to us. All the other gods of the nations are just idols. They are dead. They have no life. They are simply made up from man's imagination. So Elisha and the Baal prophets is a classic example.
Pastor Jones Britus:
When you read, for example, when you read 1 Kings 18: 16- 48. Why does that speak to us? Because we are sons. Now we are sons of God. A good father will always speak to his children because he does not want us to be ignorant of his instructions. So he gives us his word and his heart is filled Because he loves us, for Christ, so loved the church that he gave himself for it.
Pastor Jones Britus:
And how does God speak? God speaks through His Word. The number one way of healing God is through His Word. All other ways are subject to His Word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, according to John 1: 1. Our scriptures is God's breath and is useful for teaching, correcting and training in righteousness. In 2 Timothy 3: 16, we read the scriptures. If you want to heal God, we study and meditate on His Word. We should test every other way by his word. There's a country with the Bible. If not me, it's not God.
Pastor Jones Britus:
The second way that God speaks to us is through his ministry. In Ephesians 4: 11- 12, the Bible says he himself gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some evangelists and some pastors and teachers for the keeping of distance. Ministry gifts are put in the body to bring God's word and God's way to God's people. To supplement personal study and prayer, God also speaks by his spirit. Hearing the voice of God is as natural as an idea that comes into your mind. In fact, that's often exactly how he speaks. That's often exactly how he speaks. A thought occurs to you, something you've never thought of before, and it leads you to some kind of action that either answers a prayer or helps someone who is in trouble. God speaks to us in the natural moments of life. In John 14: 26, the scripture says but the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of all I have said to you. So God speaks to others by prophecy. Prophecy is not coffin, what God has already said. It is always subject to the Word of God. Isaiah 50: 40, 5 Says the Lord, God has given me the time of the land that I should know how to speak a word and season to him. That's weary. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort me 1 Corinthians 14: 3. His eyes speak edification and exhortation and comfort me 1 Corinthians 14:3.
Pastor Jones Britus:
God speaks equally through dreams and visions. God speaks to us through our dreams In Joel 2: 28. The Bible says your sons and your daughters shall prophesize, your old men shall dream and your young shall see visions. For example, when you consider the case of Joseph Joseph sun, moon and five Stars falling down to him, ships interpreting other people's dreams, flowers and his chief broker and baker, Genesis 36: 7- 11. The scripture says in this passage there we were biding shifts in the field, shift, I shift the walls and also stood up white. And indeed the shift stood all the way down and bound down my shift. And his ruler said to him shall you indeed win over us or shall you indeed have dominion over us? So they hated him even more for his dreams, for his works. Then he dreamed still another dream. He told it to his brothers and said Look, I have dreamed another dream and this time the sun, the moon and the 11 stars bowed down to me. So he told it to his father and his brothers and his father. He put him and said to him, but his father kept the matter in mind. You can also consider the chief butler's dream in Genesis 40: 9- 12.
Pastor Jones Britus:
Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar 3, the metal statue visiting four world empires, in Daniel 3: 21- 45. And Jesus talked in an audible voice. For example, 10 Commandments from Mount Sinai, Exodus 21 Exodus 20" 20. The calling of Samuel In 1 Samuel 3, verse 1, down through verse 10. Soar on the world to Damascus, soar, soar. Why are you persecuting me? Acts 9: 2 3-2 6. And then he has to go to Saul to pray for him and recover his blindness. To pray for him and recover his blindness. Acts 9: 10- 18. So God speaks face to face. For example, Moses on the mountain in the tent with Abraham and Genesis 18.
Pastor Jones Britus:
God speaks in a small voice. Elijah in the cave in 1 Kings 19: 11- 12. And and he said go forth and stand upon the mount before the Lord and behold, the Lord passed by and a great and a great and strong and strong wind went the mountains and increased the works before, before the Lord, but the Lord was not. And they went and they went and they went, and after the web and after it, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake, a fire. But the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was still a small voice.
Pastor Jones Britus:
God speaks through angels to Mary about giving birth to the Messiah. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph three times in a dream to make Mary his wife, to take his family on the flight to Egypt and then to return to Nazareth Matthew 1: 18 and Matthew 2: 23. Angels announced the birth of Christ after his temptation. They were learned Matthew 4: 11. They confronted Jesus and his agony in the Garden of Man Luke 22: 43. And they proclaimed his resurrection from the dead John 20: 12. The Angel Gabriel appeared twice to Daniel Daniel 8: 16, and Daniel 9: 21.
Pastor Jones Britus:
So God, speak through the that the Lord will not destroy the earth by water ever again. Genesis 9: 11- 17. So God speaks many ways, different ways, to his children, like a father has to speak to his children. God speaks to us constantly, every moment, every occasion. So we have to learn how to hear His voice. That is our Father, how to know the voice of our Father. When we read the scriptures and meditate them, you will hear the voice of God, because that is our Father. The children have to listen to the voice of his Father and we are the children of God. We have to know the voice of God. May God bless you.
