Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. My name is Pastor Purity Muthoni. I'm born again. I love the Lord for sustaining my salvation. I'm a mother, widow, blessed with two children, and I thank God because of that. I'm pastoring a church called the Pool of Healing Ministry, where we are located in Nairobi, Kenya. Happy Mother's Day to all mums out there. I wish you all the best and I love you.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

My sermon today. I just want to speak about being a godly mum, and it will come from the book of 1 Samuel 1. The whole verse, but I'm not going to read all of it. I will be reading where I am using, and I just want to start by saying being a mom today is a tough job. It is hard, it causes sleepless nights and it brings more than your share of trouble into your life, considering the often thankless job of raising kids. But God has designed moms with a caring heart and so. But even so, even though I believe God has designed moms to have a heart and love for their kids, it is still hard to be a mom sometimes, and even harder to be a mom that glorifies the Lord. But this morning, I honor all the moms here. Today we are going to look at a woman who is a model of motherhood and learn from her in how moms can be godly moms. And that's why I am saying turning with me in, first is someone.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Verse one, two a, and when you read that the story, you will see erkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah. And the Bible says Peninnah had children but Hannah had none. And every year when Elkanah went to worship and offer sacrifices to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord, this time Elkanah offered a sacrifice. He would give one share of the meat to Peninnah and one share to each of her children and even though he loved Hannah very much, he would give only the share because the Lord had kept her from having the children. But what I want us to see here is a godly mom will face problems and that's why you see in the Bible it is very encouraging Anna could not get children, but Peninnah had children.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

I think too often people are thinking, and the moms in particular, that if problems in my life, I must have been living in a godly way and I must be a bad mom. But this is a lie straight from the Satan. Because John 16: 33, it says I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace In this world. You will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world. And also, Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:12, in fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Through the Bible we see people who are striving to live for God, who are facing problems. If you look at Joseph, he faced problems. Moses, Joshua, Esther, and here we see Hannah also. Hannah face faces a problem because we see that Hannah has been the Rikana and two wives and Hannah could not get children, but Peninnah could get children. And when you read all the story of Peninnah and Hannah, you will see when Hannah faced a lot of problems because even Peninnah could mock Hannah, he was provoking her in order to irritate her. That was the Bible says. He provoked Hannah. When you read verse 6 and verse 7, you will see Peninnah provoking Hannah until Hannah could not eat food. He was crying until he could not even be able to eat until, uh, Ellie could ask Hannah if he is not important to him than the the sons.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

I am here to encourage many women. There are so many women who are passing through fire, through problems, through situations, being pushed by Peninnah, because, Peninnah, they are there to push you, Peninnah, they are there to provoke you. I can see Peninnah telling Hannah change for me my baby diapers, irritating Peninnah until Hannah could have gotten the depression. Because I know, even some of us women, we are passing through fire, we are passing through problems, problems from our children, problems from our husbands. But I am here to tell you push everything through prayer, because because to be a godly mom or a godly person does not mean that you are not going to to have problems. You are going to have problem, but you need to know that you and you, we don't have to face them alone. And just because you face problems does not mean that you are not loved by the Lord. But what do we do in those moments? We should take our problems through prayer.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Like Hannah, Hannah went through a lot. She was Hannah wept, wept much, and they prayed to the d,lor the bitterness of our soul, but the bible says and they vowed. So when you are in a problem, don't learn away, don't fight anybody. Take your problems to God through prayer. Number two, ungodly mom prays. That's why I'm talking about prayer. Hannah was pouring out her soul to the Lord. If you read in 1 Samuel 1: 9- 16, you will see she had some real problems that were causing her pain and her ghost. But instead of giving up, she looked up. She looked up to God in prayer, hallelujah.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Difficult circumstances in our life teach us to persevere and they help us to mature and rely on God. In James 1: 2- 4 it says "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, wherever you face struggles of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. So the grace of God is sufficient to you, my people, for my power is made perfect. In weaknesses, in every weakness that we have, let us go to God through prayer. That is where Hannah is and that's what Hannah did. Go to God with your problem, pray that through whatever you are experiencing, that God will grow you, and pray for God to change things. He can make a way, he can and he does.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Hannah did not turn away from God in a problem, but she turned to God with a problem. Be a godly mom and express what you are feeling to God in prayer. Be an example to your children. Being in a relationship with God does not mean putting on a show that everything is okay when it is not okay. Being in a relationship with God means being real in expressing how you are truly feeling to God and asking for his help In dealing with it. That is what Hannah did. That is what you should do. We need to be praying In everything. Let us continue in the CL.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Another thing, number three. A godly mom trusts in God's provision. Now, yes, god did bless Hannah and provide a child for her. And yes, God does change our circumstances, sometimes a part of his provision, but sometimes he does not change our circumstances. But he still provides for us circumstances, but he still provided for us. Remember what we just read regarding power done in his flesh second collision 12 9 my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weaknesses. God did not take away the circumstances of pa, but he provided for him through his grace. Now look at verse 18 in 1 Samuel, verse 1. Before she came pregnant, before she even could have been pregnant, God provided peace for Hannah. She went away and ate something and her face was no longer downcast. If you read in verse 18.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

As we trust in Jesus for salvation and grow in that relationship and pour out our hearts to the Lord, the Lord, God, cares and provides for us through the peace that only he can provide. And that's why the Bible says in Philippians 4: 6-7, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving. But in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God, and the peace of God, which transits all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. God's provision does not necessarily change our circumstances, although we certainly can ask that, but God's provision does change us. We still may not understand anything, but we don't need to. Instead, we know everything that we need to know that God cares for us and he is working out His will in our life. And that is the best place to be the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, that ungrateful God that we have, who provided for us so abundantly. And that's why the Bible says in Paolo Paul, philippians 4, 11-.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Says in Paolo Paul, Philippians 4:11- 13 Paul learned this I have learned to be contented, whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being contented in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in a plant or in want, I can do everything through him, who gives me strength? Now, beyond that, we recognize that God has desire to bless us all well. God, all the time. We can trust Him to provide exactly what is best. Let us continue reading and see what we can learn in fasting somewhere.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Another thing a godly mom keeps promises. Remember, back in verse 11, she made a vow saying that if she had a son, she would give him to the Lord for all the days of his life. Hannah kept her promise and she made to the Lord. Now, imagine for a moment you have been unable to have any child for your whole life. Now you have your first child and you give him over to the Lord completely for his service. That must have been extremely hard for her. Yes, she knew that the Lord wanted him.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

We glorify the Lord, even when the Lord, when he keeps our word, even when it hurts, you need to keep your promise. When you promise to do something to your husband. Do it when you promise. Do something to your children, do it. Do it. Psalm 15: 1-4. Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? Who keeps his oath even when it hurts?

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

The goal of every mother here should be to raise your children to trust in the Lord and serve him, even if it requires sacrifice for you. Now it does not necessarily have to be in what we call full-time Christian ministry, but whatever we do, we need to be serving the Lord, whether it is at our workplace, in our neighborhoods or in our homes. We need to be teaching our kids to serve and walk in the ways of the Lord. This is the ultimate goal of parenting. Hannah did the thing that would be best for her son in the long run, even though it was painful for her in the short land.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Godly moms are women of their word. Yes, godly man, godly woman does not change his word. He continues with the word until he finishes what he ungrates. Finally, when we are living godly lives, even as we are experiencing problems, we pray and we have received the Lord's provision and kept our promises. We find that. And godly moms praises the Lord, and that's why, when you read in 1 Samuel 2: 1-2, you will see.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Then Hannah prayed and said my heart rejoices in the Lord. In the Lord, my horn is lifted high, my mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. There is no one, there is no one holy like the Lord. There is no one besides you. There is no one besides you. There is no lock like our God. Hannah praises the Lord because she knew that in God had blessed her and that someone as blessed as was blessed of the Lord, she knew it was completely in God's hand, the hand of the one completely in God's hand, the hands of the one that she could completely trust, that had thrown her clothes, that had her in distress, that provided for her and that has blessed her. This was the God she could trust with the most valuable earthly possessions, even when a son, even a son. This is also the God you can trust. This is the God who wants to draw you close and listen to you in the distress and give you peace and bless you.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Moms, no matter what circumstances you are facing today, you don't have to face it alone. I will repeat it again no matter the circumstances, mothers, that you are passing through today, you don't have to face it alone through today. You don't have to face it alone being a mom. It is a tough job and he has designed you to be able to accomplish it with the help of a loving God. But my question is for you is have you been seeking His help and His provision? To seek His help and his provision, to seek his, his help and provision, you need to be a relationship with him. Are you in a relationship with the one who can provide what you need? You need Jesus Christ. You need him to pray to, to provide for you, to place, but mostly to have salvation for you, if you like.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Uh, that's why I started saying uh, we need to be a prayer of women, like the way Hannah was, and the and the true prayer. Through prayer, all things that Hannah was passing through, they all, they all come out victoriously. She become out as a winner. She got her son Samuel and she did all the things that that she was supposed to do. And that's why I am closing by saying and godly mom, praises the Lord when you are blessed with that asphalt.

Pastor Purity Muthoni:

Praise the Lord when you are blessed with the food. Praise the Lord when you are not struggling. Praise the Lord when you look at your children and they are well. Praise the Lord Even for those children that are dank. May you praise the Lord, hallelujah, and I know God will bless you and give you victory In whatever you do. So I am ending by saying I am praying for you, mamas. Moms, wherever they are, you are blessed and I am again saying happy Mother's Day. May the Lord bless you. May the Lord shower the blessings upon you like the way he showered to Hannah. May the Lord fight all your battles like the way he fighted to Hannah. May the Lord give you provision. May the Lord give you energy even to pray. May the Lord bless you. May the Lord give you victory. Moms, I love you. May the Lord give you victory and may the Lord bless you. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray and I believe, and everybody say Amen.

Pastor Purity Muthoni is the pastor of the Pool of Healing Ministry. She is located in Nairobi, Kenya, and is a widow blessed with three children, one girl, age 21, and two boys, ages 19 and 10.

When Pastor Purity was widowed suddenly at age 37, it was the worst thing ever happening to her. T She had to learn to manage the micro-financial empire of her household and do all the other things her husband once did. But most of all, she had to cope with her own pain.

Pastor Purity’s mission is to speak to widows about doing something new that they have never done without undermining themselves. She claims that people will always talk, but God has his best interest in you. Don't allow people to take advantage of your vulnerability. Look unto God, and he will see you through. God will never put you through something that you cannot handle. Pastor Purity also advises that God lifts you up and gives you strength.
